The Dream, Faded
Before the great abyss,
I stare into the deep
The shadows fill my soul
And all I crave is sleep
To fade into the dream
And wander lost and numb
The flame has been put out
Tomorrow will not come
I fantasize of nothing
An empty floating dark
My hope is life grown cold
My eyes have lost their spark
And yet I’m standing here
Perched on the edge of all
Searching for some clarity
Still afraid to fall
But when I shut my eyes
I see a swelling light
It says to me step out
Alone into the night
The light has filled my soul
Amid the sightless sky
One more step, just one
Not guided by the eye
Suspended in my trust
The light upholds my form
The dark is darker than before
Yet I am safe and warm
