The Little Leaf

This little leaf below my foot
Neglected on the ground
I wonder where you came from
And how it is you’re found

I see your edge is torn
A piece of what you were
A mottled ruby red
From when your colour burst

Perhaps you dangled brightly
Full branches of a tree
And peered past emerald glimmers
A window through to see

And then the day you caught
On the stream of rustling wind
Glimpsed the world in fragments
Ad felt you could begin

So I wonder how you came here
So broken and alone
Yet still so bright with beauty
And waiting to go home
